Duval County's traditional public schools counted 97,475 students this year, dipping below 100,000 for the first time in over 50 years.

The slide follows the 2023 expansion of Florida's Family Empowerment Scholarships, which opened vouchers for private and home schooling to all families regardless of income. Duval students using the scholarships have grown from about 3,000 in 2015 to about 29,000.

Broward lost nearly 10,000 students, Orange close to 8,000, and Miami-Dade opened roughly 5,000 below projections. Districts cite falling birth rates and shifting migration.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management reported 592 unpaid invoices topping $400 million for immigration enforcement, in an accounting delivered to lawmakers nearly two months past its July 15 legal deadline.

The report landed before a budget commission meeting, where members voted 7-3 along party lines to let the agency spend another $240 million, including $187 million for contractors behind the now-closed Alligator Alcatraz detention facility.

The hurricane-response fund projects a worst-case $1.5 billion deficit this year, with just $84.6 million received of a promised $608 million federal reimbursement.

Article Icon 1The Donuts Are Safe after Bonifay Fire

Firefighters in Bonifay extinguished a dryer fire Friday night at Big John's, the Holmes County barbecue and donut shop, after crews found flames coming from an upstairs dryer loaded with linens.

Bonifay Fire Rescue, assisted by Chipley Fire Rescue, quickly knocked down the flames, and the department assured followers in a lighthearted post that "the donuts are safe." The crew added, “We've also never seen Bonifay Police Department so eager to assist at a fire scene.” One officer even left with a donut from the owner.

No injuries or structural damage were reported at the veteran-owned shop, which has served the Panhandle town for 18 years since starting as Donutland Express.

Why Robotics Investors Keep Going Back to This NVIDIA Collaborator

Most investors write one check and wait. Miso Robotics keeps pulling them back.

With $133M+ raised to date across 44K+ investments, Miso has built something rare: a base of true believers who return round after round. And with today’s new progress at Miso and the U.S. IPO market seemingly heating up, it's easy to see why many are investing ahead of Miso’s share price change Thursday night.

Miso’s AI-powered Flippy Fry Station restaurant kitchen robot is now NVIDIA-powered, Ecolab-backed, and targeting 100K+ U.S. fast food locations in a $1T market. And the company just made two major asset acquisitions in 2026, including from a once-SoftBank-backed robotics pioneer, growing its IP portfolio 10X overnight to 300+.

As one investor put it: "This is my 4th investment in Miso. Progress seems to be moving exponentially now."

Another: "Truly believe that this technology will expand into all fast food restaurants worldwide. Steady growth and frequent communication kept me coming back.”

This is your chance to join these forward-thinkers. Just don’t wait. Invest in Miso Robotics at $5.48/share before Thursday’s share price change.
