GCU Plans Law School

Grand Canyon University plans to open a College of Law, which would become Arizona’s third ABA-accredited law school.

The university says the school will integrate a Christian worldview throughout its curriculum while emphasizing constitutional law, free-market principles, and the rule of law.

Classes could begin by spring 2028, pending sign-off from the Arizona Supreme Court, the American Bar Association, and college oversight boards.

This fall, the university launched a College of Construction and Industrial Technologies as it projects record enrollment of 141,000 students this year, including 24,000 on campus.

Meta Settlement Could Deliver $223M

Arizona could collect about $223 million over a decade from Meta's multistate settlement over child safety concerns about its Instagram and Facebook sites.

The settlement, filed Wednesday in federal court in California, will also cap teen accounts at two hours a day, block access between midnight and 6 a.m., and restrict notifications during school hours.

How the money will be spent remains undecided. Options include public school mental health counseling and programs aimed at preventing social media addiction.

The settlement resolves claims that Meta designed social media sites with addictive features and misled the public about its platforms' safety.

Michelin Stars Out of Reach

No Arizona restaurant earned a star at the Michelin Guide's inaugural Southwest ceremony in Las Vegas, though 19 landed other honors.

Seven spots took Bib Gourmand nods for good food at a good value, including FnB in Scottsdale and Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix.

Twelve more restaurants were listed as recommended, among them Atria in Flagstaff and the Fry Bread House in Phoenix.

René Andrade won the Young Chef Award, Charleen Badman won a Mindful Voices Award, and RESERVE Scottsdale's John Germain won the Sommelier Award, capping the highly anticipated event.
