State Orders ICE Facility's TB Records

Colorado health officials issued a public health order Thursday, demanding the GEO Group turn over tuberculosis records from the Aurora ICE Processing Center.

The private prison company, which runs the state's only immigration detention center, has until Monday to comply. Failure could bring legal action from Attorney General Phil Weiser.

The order escalates a standoff that has run more than six weeks, with state and Adams County investigators still unable to independently verify how many detainees, employees, or visitors were exposed.

GEO and ICE say the infected person was isolated, treated, and removed from the country, and federal officials maintain there are no active cases. Both the state and Adams County put the risk to the general public as low.

Salida Drops Flock Safety Contract

The Salida Police Department cancelled its contract with Flock Safety on Thursday and will stop using the company's automated license plate reader cameras.

Chief Russ Johnson said the cameras had helped in many investigations but drew questions about privacy, data retention, and misuse. He cited public feedback for the decision.

Johnson also faulted vandals who have been sawing cameras off their poles: "This behavior only cost the taxpayers money, and did nothing to change the policies or the use of LPR system."

Flock announced changes this week, cutting standard data retention from 30 days to seven and requiring agencies to use audit tools that flag suspicious searches.

Bullet Found on Denver Flight

A crew member found a live bullet aboard United Flight 1302 at Denver International Airport during routine checks Thursday, before the plane taxied out.

All 178 passengers and six crew members left the Boeing 737-900 with their carry-on bags so security personnel could sweep the aircraft.

The captain told the cabin it was a security breach. The San Diego-bound flight was scheduled to leave at 1:25 p.m. and finally departed around 3:41 p.m. once the aircraft was cleared.

The TSA said it wasn't involved in the discovery, can't confirm where the bullet came from, and is reviewing the incident. A loaded magazine turned up on a Frontier flight at DIA in May and was traced to a law enforcement officer.
