Trump's Arch Will House Drones, Snipers

President Trump said Sunday that his 250-foot triumphal arch across the Potomac River from the U.S. Capitol will also serve as a military complex, storing drones and positioning snipers on its roof and plaza.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that he agreed to the change at "the strong request of the military." The structure will hold "large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage," he said.

Excavation is set for Memorial Circle, between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Three veterans and an architectural historian are suing, arguing Congress never authorized the arch, and the planning commission has granted only preliminary approval. Read the complaint here.

Moscow Hit by Largest Drone Attack Yet

Ukraine fired more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight into Sunday, including hundreds aimed at Moscow, in what the city's mayor called the largest attack ever on the capital.

The strikes hit a Gazprom refinery southeast of Moscow, one of Russia's largest, and set fires at apartment buildings. Three people were killed and 20 hurt across the Moscow region, and all four of the capital's international airports briefly halted flights.

Zelensky said Ukraine hit oil and logistics targets with Flamingo cruise missiles and long-range drones, and used its new Pelican ballistic missile for the first time. Moscow "should end its brutal war and choose peace," he said.

The attack landed on the final day of Russia's first wartime parliamentary election, a three-day vote that barred the main pro-peace party from the ballot. Putin's United Russia is expected to keep its supermajority.

White House Plans 'AI Force' and a New Czar

President Trump said Saturday he will create an "AI Force" modeled on the Space Force and name an AI czar, rejecting the industry's own calls to slow down.

He wrote on Truth Social that the government "will not in any way hinder or stifle" the industry, and said existing courts can handle bad actors. He predicted AI could reach 25% of U.S. GDP.

The move lands a week after the heads of four leading AI labs publicly agreed to slow their own development. Four subscribers sued those companies Friday, arguing the deal amounts to illegal collusion that slows the products they pay for.
