Good Morning! On this day in 1956, the Town of Boone, a small plains town south of Pueblo, was incorporated. Albert Gallatin Boone, grandson of famous pioneer Daniel Boone, founded the town as Booneville during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush.

Resort Leaders Push to Keep Clock Change

The ski resort industry is urging U.S. senators to reject permanent daylight saving time, arguing darker winter mornings would endanger crews prepping the slopes.

A Sept. 10 letter from five trade groups and two resort companies speaks for 115 ski areas in 10 states. Signers include Colorado Ski Country, Alterra Mountain Co., and Powdr.

The U.S. House passed the Sunshine Protection Act on July 14 by a 308-117 vote. Colorado is among 19 states that have already approved year-round daylight time.

Under the change, Colorado sunrises would fall between 8 and 8:20 a.m. in midwinter. Resorts might delay first chair until 9:30 or 10 a.m.

Two Charged in School Drop-Off Stabbing

Two men face charges after a traffic crash in a Douglas County school drop-off line escalated into a stabbing last month.

The fight began in the Cresthill Middle School parking lot around 7:34 a.m. on Aug. 13 and spilled into a nearby neighborhood.

A school resource officer ran from the building, separated the men, and recovered a knife. He applied a chest seal to a stab wound before paramedics arrived.

Jeremy John Larranaga, 45, was arrested that day on charges including first-degree assault and child abuse. Jacinto Louis Herrera, 39, was arrested Sept. 15.

Broncos Debut New Mascot

The Broncos introduced their new live mascot at Sunday's home opener against Jacksonville. Thunder V made his debut at Empower Field at Mile High.

The horse is an Andalusian and is owned by the team, a break from the three Arabian horses that came before him.

Sharon Magness Blake owned Thunder for 33 seasons before she, her husband, and rider Ann Judge retired from the program earlier this year.

Fans may also recognize Piper, a northern Colorado horse who stars in Broncos promos. She is often mistaken for Thunder on the jumbotron.
