Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha made seven saves against Spain in his country's first-ever World Cup match on June 15, holding one of the tournament favorites to a stunning 0-0 draw. Then the 40-year-old broke down in tears. His late grandparents couldn't see him play, he told reporters, and his mother, Ana Candida Evora, hadn't been able to complete the visa process in time to attend.

The moment went viral. Within days, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio for help, and U.S. officials, FIFA, and Cape Verde's soccer federation worked together to resolve the issue. Ana arrived in Miami on Friday after more than 24 hours of travel from Cape Verde.

On Sunday, she walked into the stadium carrying a Cape Verde flag, her son's name and number on the back of her shirt, and watched from a suite as Cape Verde earned another historic result, a 2-2 draw with Uruguay. Vozinha received perhaps the loudest ovation of any player during the pregame introductions.

Betty and Kermit Eastman of St. Cloud, Minnesota, both 99, celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary earlier this month, joining a remarkably small group. On average, only one U.S. couple each year reaches the 80-year mark. Globally, it is estimated that only one in 6 million couples lives long enough to celebrate eight decades of marriage.

Their story began in Thief River Falls, where Betty moved into the neighborhood and caught Kermit's attention. Before they could build much of a life together, Kermit left high school to join the Navy during World War II. His ship, the USS Mullany, was struck by a Japanese kamikaze plane, and Kermit said about 20 crew members were killed. After returning from the war, the two married, finished high school together, and even attended prom as a married couple.

They raised two children in St. Cloud, where Kermit worked as a superintendent. The family has since grown to include five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. They celebrated the milestone at their daughter's home surrounded by their entire family.

After eight decades, their advice is simple. "Just don't keep secrets and be honest," Betty said. Kermit added: "Just live every day. Every day is a gift."

When Daniel Allen returned home after serving multiple tours in Vietnam, he bought a brand-new 1969 Mustang Mach 1. He drove it on dates with his future wife, Diana, and proposed during a ferry ride before the couple married and welcomed six sons. As their family grew, Daniel reluctantly traded the two-door sports car for something more practical.

Decades later, his youngest son, Shane, found a nearly identical 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and traded his own restored Mustang to acquire it. He had the seats reupholstered, repainted the hood black, and raced to finish the restoration before a Father's Day car show, where he secretly displayed it with his father's name hanging from the rearview mirror.

When Daniel noticed the tag, he assumed it was a coincidence. Then Shane revealed the Mustang was his and handed him the keys. "When he got out of the car, he asked me how I had made it happen," Shane said. "I told him I traded my custom GT for this Mach 1 and he broke down and hugged me."
