Washington Buries Sen. Lindsey Graham

President Trump eulogized Sen. Lindsey Graham as a "true American original" Tuesday at Washington National Cathedral, capping a day of tributes that opened with a congressional tribute in the Capitol Rotunda.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky both attended. Each met separately with Trump at the White House hours earlier, with Zelensky pressing for faster access to Patriot missile interceptors.

The Netanyahu session centered on Iran and expanding the Abraham Accords. An Israeli official said the talks produced progress but no final agreements. Tuesday marked five months of the war.

Senators planned a test vote on the Russia sanctions bill Graham had championed before his death. Services move to South Carolina this morning, with a State House procession and an F-16 flyover before a private family burial in Pickens.

7.1 Quake Strikes Japan, Shopping Mall Collapses

A preliminary magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Japan's Kumamoto prefecture on Tuesday afternoon, registering the highest level on the country's seismic intensity scale. Officials issued a tsunami advisory for nearby coastal waters that was lifted hours later.

The second floor of a shopping mall in Kashima collapsed after a reported explosion, trapping shoppers and staff. Rescue crews combed through the debris through the night.

At least 50 people were injured, and 20 to 30 mall employees remained unaccounted for. Officials had not confirmed a death toll as of Tuesday night. Hundreds of thousands were ordered to evacuation centers.

Bullet train service across Kyushu was halted, and 48,300 homes lost power. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi dispatched 3,600 troops for rescue work. The same region was struck by a deadly quake in 2016.

US Added 1,200 Millionaires a Day Last Year

The United States added 441,078 new millionaires last year, more than 1,200 every day, according to global wealth data. There are now 23.6 million American millionaires, more than two of every five worldwide.

Global personal wealth rose 10.8% in 2025, and nearly 1 million people worldwide joined the ranks of millionaires. Every one of the 56 markets tracked ended the year with more millionaires than it started.

The typical American didn't share in it. Inflation-adjusted median wealth per adult fell between 2020 and 2025, to just under $69,000, ranking the country 28th.

The report points to what households own. Those with significant investments captured the market run-up, while families whose wealth sits mostly in a home did not.
