Article Icon 1Delta Bets Big on the Pacific

Delta Air Lines is on an international expansion tear, announcing a wave of new Pacific and Asian routes as part of the carrier's most aggressive global push in years.

Delta President Peter Carter said the Atlanta-based company wants to become the biggest U.S. carrier for trans-Pacific travel and, beyond that, “The real goal is to become the leading global carrier, which is a pretty audacious goal.”

Currently, United Airlines claims the title of world’s largest airline, based on revenue passenger miles. Delta carries more passengers; however, longer flights can generate more revenue per passenger than shorter trips.

Delta launched daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong on June 6, the airline's first Hong Kong flight in eight years. Delta also plans future service to Singapore and Manila, and flights to Seoul from more U.S. cities.

Apple TV+'s new thriller Cape Fear showcases coastal Georgia, from Savannah's cobblestone streets to a century-old ice cream shop on Broughton Street.

The 10-episode series stars Javier Bardem as a menacing ex-convict and Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as the Savannah attorney couple he terrorizes.

The series was filmed in studios and on location in the Peach State, drawing strong early reviews for its lush Georgia backdrop and intense performances.

Leopold's Ice Cream, a Savannah shop founded in 1919, gets its own screen moment in the series. One of its classic T-shirts is in demand after being worn by Wilson's character.
