Article Icon 1ADL Files Complaint against BSVD

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) this week filed a federal civil rights complaint against Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), alleging the district repeatedly failed to protect a Jewish eighth-grader from harassment.

The Title VI complaint alleges antisemitic bullying—including physical assault and the use of slurs—by multiple fellow students over two years. The ADL contends BVSD failed to meaningfully respond, ultimately causing the student to hide his Jewish identity.

The ADL is asking federal officials to require that BSVD adopt zero-tolerance antisemitism policies, mandate staff and student training, and overhaul its reporting systems.

BVSD said in a statement that it "takes all allegations of discrimination and harassment seriously" but doesn’t comment on ongoing legal matters.

A Colorado woman was among the 12 people killed Sunday when a plane carrying skydivers went down soon after takeoff from Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, Missouri.

The pilot died in the crash, and 11 skydivers, including Jennifer L. Sharp, 55, of Grand Junction, were killed. A witness said the passengers never had a chance to bail out, as they were too low to the ground.

Sharp had decades of skydiving experience and held several state and world records in the sport. She’d served as the director of technology for the U.S. Parachute Association, a not-for-profit skydiver membership group, since 2017.

Skydive Kansas City, the plane’s operator, called the crash a "devastating loss.” The company said it’s cooperating with investigators and is focused on supporting the victims' families as well as the community.

Article Icon 1Denver Post Settles with Denver

The owner of The Denver Post has agreed to pay the City of Denver $13.5 million and remove the newspaper's name from the iconic curved building at the corner of Broadway and Colfax Avenue, settling a monthslong dispute over unpaid rent.

DP Media LLC stopped paying its $650,000 monthly rent to the city last August. By May, the company had racked up roughly $6.5 million in arrears plus mounting late fees.

Though The Denver Post moved out of the building in 2018, DP Media still held the master lease and had been subletting floors to the city. When Denver bought the building for $88.5 million in 2024, the city became the landlord but remained a tenant.

Mayor Mike Johnston, who’d vowed to recover every cent owed, called the settlement a “great deal” and pledged to forge a new future for the property. The settlement represents about 40% of what DP Media would have owed for the full lease through 2029.
