Iran's negotiating team walked out of peace talks in Switzerland on Sunday, just 80 minutes into the first face-to-face session under the deal signed last week. Iranian state media blamed an "insulting message" from President Trump. Trump told reporters he had warned Iranian officials they "won't even make it back" to their country if they close the Strait of Hormuz, adding he would "blow the s--t out of them." Iran's parliament speaker fired back, writing that the country's armed forces "are ready to give them a response in a different way." Starmer Expected to ResignBritish Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce a timetable to step down as early as Monday, after cabinet ministers, including his foreign and home secretaries, told him his time is up. The pressure mounted after Andy Burnham, the popular mayor of Greater Manchester, won a special election Thursday by a wide margin and signaled he wants the top job. President Trump got ahead of the announcement, posting on Truth Social that Starmer "will resign" after failing on immigration and energy. British media reported the two had not spoken since last week's G7. If Starmer goes, he would be the sixth British prime minister to leave office in 10 years. Burnham is the overwhelming favorite to replace him. |
Reflecting Pool Arrests MountPresident Trump said police arrested multiple people for vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, claiming saboteurs poured chemicals into the water and slashed the new lining. Officials said five people were arrested and five more received federal citations. Among them was David Hearn, a three-time Olympic canoeist who says he was handcuffed after merely touching a flap of blue sealant already peeling from the bottom. Trump said the pool will likely need to be partially drained for repairs, weeks after the $14 million renovation was completed ahead of America's 250th birthday. The cause of the damage is disputed.
