Good Morning! On this day in 1513, Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de LeΓ³n returned to Puerto Rico after an eight-month voyage, marking the first recorded European exploration of Florida.
The most important places in American history aren’t where you think. Some of the moments that shaped this country happened in towns with one stoplight, a single gas station, and a tumbleweed rolling across Main Street. Do you ever wonder where the Cold War got its name? Which town spent three years officially not existing while it helped win a world war? Or where the most famous invention in American history finally got off the ground? One of these towns could be in your state, and you may have even driven through it without knowing what happened there. On today’s episode of Flyover Focus, we count down 10 small towns that changed American history. Tune in here! Today’s sponsor, Particle, makes a 6-in-1 face cream specifically for men designed to target common signs of aging, including eye bags, dark spots, wrinkles, dryness, and loss of firmness.

Early Voting Opens Across Florida
Early voting for the Nov. 3 election begins today in many Florida counties, including Miami-Dade and Broward. Every county must open by Saturday, and many stay open through Nov. 1. Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds faces Democrat David Jolly for governor, and Republican Sen. Ashley Moody faces Democrat Angie Nixon to finish Marco Rubio’s Senate term. Donalds said Floridians have “rejected socialism” and will again, while Jolly said voters are “begging for new leadership.” Amendment 3, a property tax cut, would raise the non-school homestead exemption to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028 if 60% of voters approve. |
Coldest Mornings Since May Arrive
North Florida wakes up today to its coldest morning since May, with lows in the low 50s and a few upper 40s across the Big Bend. The chill isn't a quick visit. Forecasters expect lows in the upper 40s to low 50s all week, with afternoon highs in the low 70s. Offshore, the National Hurricane Center is watching a storm-force low forming off the Southeast coast. It could turn subtropical as it drifts slowly through midweek, with a 30% chance of development over seven days. Either way, it's expected to bring high winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf to parts of the East Coast. Northeast Florida beaches took a beating from wind and waves Sunday. |
Suspicious Call Snarls DJT Airport
A suspicious phone call on Sunday prompted an investigation at West Palm Beach’s Trump International Airport, slowing terminal traffic as President Trump prepared to depart. His Friday night arrival was reportedly Air Force One’s first since the airport took his name. Before leaving, he endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu for reelection, calling the Israeli prime minister a “Partner for Peace” ahead of Israel’s Oct. 27 vote. He returns to Florida on Friday for a midterm rally in Fort Myers to boost Republican gubernatorial nominee Byron Donalds. |
