Jury selection began yesterday in the murder trial of James Craig, an Aurora dentist accused of fatally poisoning his wife in 2023.

Craig's wife, Angela, died from lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, substances investigators believe were mixed into her protein shakes. Authorities say Craig had researched and purchased "undetectable poisons" in the weeks before her death.

In addition to first-degree murder, Craig is charged with soliciting others to commit murder after allegedly trying to arrange multiple killings from jail.

Craig's defense attorney, who was arrested on suspicion of arson last week, withdrew as counsel Tuesday. Craig's previous attorney had also withdrawn in 2024, citing a professional conflict, days before the trial was originally set to begin.

Members of the Vibrant Denver bond executive committee have unveiled a list of proposed infrastructure projects to be funded by the city's $800 million bond package.

Out of more than 1,100 ideas suggested by the community, 48 were included in the proposal. The final list largely prioritizes parks and recreation while deprioritizing transportation improvements.

The package drew criticism from city council members who felt it did not accurately reflect true community input. Some called the process rushed and indicated they would vote to block the proposal.

Mayor Mike Johnston and the city council can still modify the package before it appears on the Nov. 4 ballot. City officials hope to push it through the council by August.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) found a large cluster of adult zebra mussels, an invasive aquatic species, in a privately owned body of water in western Eagle County on July 3, the agency confirmed Wednesday.

The mussels are a threat to both wildlife and water systems, which they clog and erode. Their larvae, called veligers, were also recently detected in the Colorado River, Highline Lake, and Mack Mesa Lake.

The July 3 discovery marks a major development in the years-long effort to eradicate the mussels, as it could help officials pinpoint a major source and prevent further contamination.

CPW is evaluating next steps to remove the mussels in Eagle County. Because they spread by clinging to boats, CPW is asking the public to drain, inspect, and clean out watercraft.
