Judge Blocks Trump’s Citizenship Order

A federal judge in New Hampshire blocked President Trump’s birthright citizenship order despite a recent Supreme Court ruling limiting judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Laplante, a George W. Bush appointee, approved a class action suit representing affected newborns, allowing him to sidestep the ruling and apply the block nationwide.

The order, set to take effect July 27, would deny citizenship to U.S.-born children unless one parent is a citizen or legal permanent resident.

Laplante ruled that the policy contradicts the 14th Amendment and a key 1898 Supreme Court precedent, potentially impacting over 150,000 babies each year.

31 Workers Rescued in LA Tunnel Collapse

All 31 workers trapped in a collapsed wastewater tunnel under Los Angeles were safely rescued late Wednesday after a partial cave-in occurred 400 feet underground and six miles away from the only exit.

The workers, operating a tunnel boring machine for a $700 million clean water project, climbed over 12 feet of debris to reach safety. See the footage of the rescue efforts.

Officials say the collapse happened in the Wilmington industrial area due to “squeezing ground,” and the exact cause remains under investigation.

No serious injuries were reported, and Mayor Karen Bass called the outcome “a victory” after fears of tragedy.

First US Woman in Wimbledon Final Since Serena

American player Amanda Anisimova stunned world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semifinals Thursday, becoming the first U.S. woman to reach the final since Serena Williams.

The 23-year-old New Jersey native and the daughter of Russian immigrants won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, overcoming a third-set deficit and sealing victory with a cross-court forehand.

Once sidelined by mental health struggles and ranked outside the top 180, she is now eyeing a major title—and studying online to become a surgeon after her tennis career.
