Dozens of people reported missing are safe, and 107 victims have been identified. Over the weekend, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Hamilton and Travis counties have been approved for federal aid to address damaged infrastructure and public facilities. Today, the Texas legislature convenes for a 30-day special session to address several flood-related issues. State Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) said he is working on legislation that would fund warning sirens along the Guadalupe River that are connected to Starlink satellites. In the past two weeks, first responders from Mexico and the Czech Republic have traveled to Kerr County to help with search and recovery efforts. Several event planning companies have offered to cover funeral expenses for victims' families, and a craftsman from Edna is donating custom-made caskets. | Panhandle Getting Power Boost Xcel Energy, a Minneapolis utility company that provides power to much of the Panhandle, announced Friday that it will add more than 5,000 megawatts of capacity in Texas and New Mexico by 2030 to meet a projected 40% increase in electricity demand in the region. The portfolio includes 17 new generation projects and three expanded natural gas plants, two of which are in Texas. The company plans to add 3,200 megawatts of dispatchable energy and storage and 1,968 megawatts of new wind and solar power capacity. Population growth and industrial expansion, particularly the rapid proliferation of AI data centers, are fueling the anticipated increase in demand, which ERCOT has predicted could double within the next five years. "This portfolio is about more than just adding power," said Adrian Rodriguez, Xcel's regional president. "We're working to build a stronger, modern, and more resilient energy system that our customers can count on." | Professors Discover Ancient Royal Tomb University of Houston professors Arlen and Diane Chase recently discovered the 1,700-year-old tomb of Mayan king Te' K'ab Chaak at the Caracol archaeological site in Belize. The university announced the discovery earlier this month. Te' K'ab Chaak was the ancient city's first ruler and the founder of its royal dynasty, which endured until the ninth century. His tomb, the first royal tomb to be found at the site, was filled with pottery, carved bones, shells, and jadeite jewelry, including a death mask made of the precious gemstone. The finding shows the king's great wealth and demonstrates that the society engaged in long-distance trade with other cultures. Te' K'ab Chaak was 5-foot-7 and died at an advanced age. | | Flying together with our sponsor Trump's Reset Can Give Birth To America's Greatest Era Yet In 1933, Executive Order 6102 forced everyday Americans to hand over their gold at a fixed rate. Citizens lost a sizable amount of their hard-earned wealth at the stroke of FDR's pen. Now, 92 years later, President Trump has focused his energy on making things right. His next move has the power to trigger a financial reset that could shift trillions of dollars into the hands of the people.
A provision buried in the U.S. Code Title 31, Section 5117 allows the U.S. Treasury to revalue America's gold reserves from an outdated $42 per ounce to today's market price. That's a 72x increase!
