Federal Court Allows Enforcement of 'Drag Ban'

A federal appeals court has ruled that Texas can enforce a 2023 law prohibiting "sexually explicit performances" where children might be present, reversing a lower court ruling that deemed the law unconstitutional.

Opponents of the law refer to it as the "drag ban" and claim it directly targets drag performers and violates their right to free speech.

The ruling sends the case back to the lower courts for a fuller analysis, with justices saying there was insufficient "review of all applications of the law" in the lower court's overturning.

The court also stated that the law would not be enforced against drag performances unless they include overtly sexual acts.

Paxton Acts Against Tylenol, Roblox

Texas Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton's office took action this week against a range of entities, from Tylenol to the Dallas Stars.

On Thursday, Paxton filed a request with a federal judge to issue a restraining order on the makers of Tylenol, which would force the company to stop advertising its pain reliever as safe for pregnant women and young children.

Also on Thursday, Paxton sued the company that operates Roblox, a popular online children's game, alleging the site is a "breeding ground for predators" and is "flagrantly ignoring" online safety laws.
