Is Your Car Insurance Loyalty Costing You?

Sticking with the same car insurance company year after year might feel like a smart move. After all, shouldn’t being a loyal customer earn you a better deal?

Not necessarily.

Insurance rates change all the time, and staying with the same company doesn’t guarantee you’re getting its best price. You could be paying more than you need to simply because you haven’t checked what else is available.

And after years of inflation-driven increases, car insurance premiums now average more than $2,200–$2,500 a year. At those prices, even a modest difference in rates could add up to hundreds of dollars over the course of a year.

Money’s free car insurance comparison tool lets you compare rates from providers in your area and see whether switching could save you money.
