Kerr County has received eight flood warning sirens mandated by lawmakers in the aftermath of last summer's deadly flash floods. Local officials expect to receive more sirens in the near future.

The sirens will be installed within the next month along the Guadalupe River near 10 summer camps, including both Camp Mystic locations. The "most critical" areas with dense summer populations have been prioritized for the first sirens purchased by the Upper Guadalupe River Authority.

During a public hearing at the Texas Capitol on Monday, an attorney hired to investigate the disaster testified that Camp Mystic lacked an evacuation plan, did not provide emergency training for counselors, and was understaffed. "There was never any real training, no drills of any kind," said Casey Garrett.

Garrett also shared that camp operator Dick Eastland, who died trying to rescue campers in his truck, checked his phone repeatedly for weather updates after the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 1:14 a.m. on Friday, July 4.

"We do know that Dick Eastland loved every little girl that came to Camp Mystic. He was a loving man," said Garrett.

Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg was named NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday, joining Jason Kidd and Luka Doncic as the third player in franchise history to win the award. At just 19 years old, he's the second-youngest player to receive the honor, trailing only LeBron James.

Flagg averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season, leading the Mavs in all four categories. The last rookie to achieve that feat was Michael Jordan.

Flagg edged out former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets by just 26 total points for the award, the second-tightest vote margin in over two decades. It's the first time college teammates finished first and second for the award.

"I came here to compete and help this team win," Flagg said of the accomplishment. "This is just one step forward in what we're building."

Filming has begun for the seventh and final season of The Chosen, the historical drama based on the life of Jesus. The series has been shot primarily at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian.

"Day 1 of 90 of our final season," producer Dallas Jenkins wrote on Instagram on Monday. Last week, Austin-based Brock Allen Casting posted several listings for background actors.

Season 7, which portrays the resurrection of Jesus, is scheduled for release in March 2028. Season 6, which covers Christ's trial and crucifixion, will premiere this November on Amazon Prime, where Seasons 1-5 are available.

"We want to finish strong. We want to land the plane in a very beautiful way," Jenkins said last month.

One Shark Missed Billions… Another Saw This Coming

Imagine turning down an Uber offer at a $10 million valuation, only to see it go public at over $80 billion.

That’s exactly what happened to Mark Cuban… a 799,900% return, gone.

But original Shark Tank investor Kevin Harrington built his career doing the opposite: spotting asymmetric opportunities before they go mainstream.

Like Uber turned vehicles into income-generating assets, Mode Mobile is turning smartphones into income streams.

They were named the No. 1 fastest-growing software company by Deloitte and have already helped their users earn and save over $1B.

Kevin Harrington invested early.

And at just $0.50/share, you can still get in before their potential IPO.

Secure shares at $0.50 while the pre-IPO window is still open.
