The driver of a "military-style tractor trailer" led police on a 75-minute chase across Houston after a hit-and-run Sunday night. The suspect, 53-year-old Omar Moreno, hit at least 10 vehicles prior to the pursuit and attempted to ram several law enforcement vehicles before he was apprehended, according to authorities.

An off-duty Harris County deputy called for help after witnessing the crash just before 10 p.m. Authorities located the vehicle within minutes, and when Moreno didn't stop, they deployed spike strips and fired at the truck. A bystander captured part of the wild pursuit on video.

After the truck was disabled, a SWAT team gassed Moreno out of the cab and took him into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest. His lengthy criminal history includes an April 2025 arrest when he was found naked in a stolen car.

"We don't really have a motive or anything at this point," said Harris County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tommy Diaz. The chase shut down part of the Eastex Freeway for several hours.

Big Bend National Park could be forced to close the popular Chisos Basin after water pumps for the area failed two days before Christmas, causing a "critical water shortage."

Officials implemented immediate conservation measures and are "urgently trying to expedite repair of the pumps," but those repairs are expected to take "several weeks, at best." If storage tanks drop below the levels needed for firefighting, the park will close the area.

Some of Big Bend's most popular hikes are in the Chisos Basin, which also contains lodging, campgrounds, and a visitor center. The park's busy season typically runs from February through April.

An infrastructure overhaul to replace the Chisos Basin's water distribution system and the pumps at Oak Spring—the area's only water source—is scheduled for May. "This emergency illustrates the importance of that project," the National Park Service said in its announcement.

AT&T will build a new global headquarters in Plano to consolidate the company's operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to an internal email from CEO John Stankey on Monday.

As of 2022, AT&T had nearly 6,000 employees assigned to its downtown Dallas offices, which received a $100 million renovation in 2021.

The 54-acre campus will be built on property previously owned by Dallas investment firm NexPoint, which is overseeing a large development in Plano called The Texas Research Quarter. Stankey said he anticipates a move to the new headquarters "as early as the second half of 2028."

A 2025 report warned public safety concerns could prompt the Fortune 500 company to abandon its Dallas headquarters, causing downtown property values to drop $2.7 billion, or 30%.

However, a statement from the mayor and city manager touted Dallas as a "city of opportunity" and suggested AT&T "preferred a large horizontal, suburban-style campus."
