Socialist demonstrators in Dallas and Austin protested the military intervention. Texas Republicans widely support the move, while Democrats generally oppose it. A Venezuelan owner of a Carrollton restaurant said her family is "happy and content" about Nicolรกs Maduro's removal, while several in Katy expressed hope that their home country would "regain freedom." Venezuelan nationals in Austin, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, and El Paso shared similar sentiments. Meanwhile, Rick Majumdar of Freedom Road Socialist Organization Dallas said, "We don't want the United States to go to another war for oil." Scarleth Lopez of the Austin chapter of the Party of Socialism and Liberation characterized Maduro's removal as "a power grab." Gov. Greg Abbott called Maduro an "indicted narco terrorist," while Sen. Ted Cruz said he "threatened America and our allies," and Sen. John Cornyn gave "kudos" to President Trump. U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett criticized the military action as "unconstitutional," and State Rep. James Talarico said it was "deeply corrupt." | Houston METRO Bus Flips Over A Houston METRO bus flipped over and landed on a highway overpass embankment after it was reportedly rear-ended on Saturday. Fourteen people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, but all of them are now "safe and out of danger," according to an agency spokesperson. The bus was stuck on an embankment next to McGowen Street and State Highway 288 for several hours after the crash. While the driver and most passengers were able to exit the bus on their own, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life and "almost every cutting tool that we had" to remove one rider. The bus was taken to the agency's Bus Operating Facility, where its onboard video will be reviewed. A METRO spokesperson praised the "coordination and professionalism" of emergency personnel who "helped ensure a swift response during a challenging situation." A witness who was waiting at a nearby bus stop said she was thankful she and her daughter weren't hurt. "I'm just shook," said Latafia Harris. "I'm traumatized at the same time, but I'm thankful because they could have been us." | Lady Raiders Sign 7-Foot-1 Nigerian Player Stephanie Okechukwu, a 7-foot-1 basketball player from Nigeria, has signed with the No. 21 Texas Tech Lady Raiders.
