| | Wednesday, March 25, 2026 | | | Good Morning! On this day in 1934, golfer Horton Smith, 25, claimed victory by one stroke at the first Augusta National Invitation Tournament, now known as The Masters Tournament. Smith won again two years later, making him the first two-time Masters winner. This year's tournament tees off on April 9. NASA just announced plans to build a permanent base on the moon, committing $20 billion over seven years in the biggest shake-up to America's space program in decades. It's all in today's lead story. 🌅We've been working on something big, and in one week's time, the first edition of The California Flyover comes out. Do you live in the Golden State or know somebody who does? Click here to sign up. Today's partner, LMNT, is one we're especially excited to share. With temperatures rising across much of the country, it's starting to feel like summer again. Hot weather has a way of exposing one simple issue: most people aren't as hydrated as they think. That's why LMNT has become a go-to for many Flyover staff members. | | | | NASA Plans $20 Billion Moon Base NASA announced Tuesday that it would spend $20 billion over seven years to build a permanent base on the moon's surface, pausing previous plans for an orbiting lunar station. The agency will repurpose components from that Lunar Gateway station, already largely built by contractors, to build a surface base instead. The plan will unfold in three phases, beginning with robotic landers and new technology testing, then semi-habitable infrastructure, and finally long-duration crew quarters. NASA also revealed plans to develop an entirely new spacecraft designed to reach Mars. The aggressive timeline comes as China pushes toward its own 2030 moon landing, with SpaceX and Blue Origin still working to complete lunar landers under contract. | FedEx Enters Same-Day Delivery War FedEx is jumping into the same-day delivery war, launching a service to rival Amazon and Walmart as major retailers battle over who can get packages to doorsteps fastest. The new FedEx SameDay Local, built with last-mile partner OneRail, will offer shoppers two-hour or end-of-day delivery options directly at checkout. OneRail’s platform covers nearly 99% of the country and plugs into retailers' existing store networks without requiring new infrastructure. The move comes a week after Amazon rolled out one-hour and three-hour shipping windows in hundreds of U.S. cities, while Walmart already offers three-hour delivery reaching 95% of U.S. households. FedEx says it’s betting on demand: 80% of customers surveyed want same-day shipping, and nearly half say they're more likely to complete a purchase if it's included. | Survey: America's Perfect Fast-Food Plate A new survey of 2,000 adults found that the ideal American fast-food meal pulls from multiple chains: a Burger King burger, a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, McDonald's fries and chicken nuggets, and a Dairy Queen milkshake. Regional tastes vary. In-N-Out beats both Burger King and Wendy's for best burger out West, Midwesterners favor Arby's curly fries, and Raising Cane's ranks highly across the Southwest. The average respondent spends about $12 on a fast-food meal but believes it should cost about a third less. Americans have stuck with their favorite items for an average of 16 years.
