Article Icon 1Texans at the State of the Union

Tuesday night's State of the Union address featured several Texans.

For the second year in a row, Rep. Al Green (D-Houston) was removed from the House chamber for causing a disruption. As President Trump began to speak, Green stood holding a sign that read, "Black People Aren't Apes!" Several Republicans, including Rep. Troy Nehls of Richmond, tried to rip the sign out of Green's hands.

Trump awarded the Legion of Merit to Scott Ruskan, the Coast Guard rescue swimmer who saved 165 people at Camp Mystic during last summer's deadly flash floods. He was joined by 11-year-old Milly Cate McClymond, one of the girls he helped to safety.

Trump recognized Rachel Wiggins of Houston, a mom of two who "placed bids on 20 homes and lost all of those bids to gigantic investment firms." He also mentioned Lizbeth Medina, a 16-year-old cheerleader from Edna who was stabbed to death at her home by an illegal immigrant.

Although they weren't recognized, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton attended as Nehls' guest, while First Lady Melania Trump invited Austin fifth grader Everest Nevraumont, who attends an AI-driven school and gave a TEDx Talk about the benefits of AI in education. She recounted her experience on Good Morning America yesterday morning.

A Whataburger in Paris was the site of a chaotic confrontation caught on video Sunday, when staff used a trash can and a deep-fryer basket to fend off a drunken attacker.

Police initially responded to a call about a man who "became verbally abusive" toward staff and was asked to leave. Before 41-year-old Anthony William Newhuis complied, he threatened to come back after officers left.

Shortly later, he returned and "assaulted the manager [by] striking him with his fist multiple times." A customer captured the ensuing brawl on video, which has gone viral.

Police detained the bloodied Newhuis in the restaurant's parking lot. Before he was released on $4,500 in bonds on Monday, Newhuis was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly "intentionally" flooding the cells of the Lamar County Jail.

Apple's Houston factory for manufacturing AI servers will begin producing the Mac Mini, its compact desktop computer, creating "thousands of jobs." The company's Tuesday announcement hailed the development as the first time the product will be built in the U.S.

Apple CEO Tim Cook touted the move as part of the company's previously announced $600 billion investment in the U.S. over four years. "Apple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing," he said.

Since last year, Apple has sourced more than 20 billion U.S.-made chips from 24 factories across 12 states, including those of Dallas-based Texas Instruments. The company announced that components manufactured by the new $4 billion GlobalWafers plant in Sherman will be used by its partners to assemble chips domestically.

The tech giant is also building a 20,000-square-foot on-site Advanced Manufacturing Center for hands-on workforce training.

Silver's Rise Can Make or Break Your Retirement

It has surged over 300% over the past 12 months. It's crucial to the AI revolution, but demand is far outstripping supply. It has become a go-to safe haven asset for global institutions, Wall Street investors, and everyday Americans as the economy becomes more unhinged. And before this current run-up, almost no one gave it a second thought.

Physical silver is quickly becoming the #1 commodity in the world. And now is your chance to benefit from it!

Retirement savings like 401(k)s and pension plans are growing increasingly vulnerable. A bursting stock bubble, a collapsing dollar, or one conflict halfway around the world can send your funds' value plummeting.

You can protect that value with physical silver. Thanks to an IRS loophole, you can legally transfer the value of your 401(k), TSP, Pension, or IRA into physical silver and gold.

Silver is unique among commodities, with soaring demand from investors and industry. And its 6-year supply deficit gives price a solid floor and no ceiling. Bank of America said silver could break $300 this year. Don't miss this opportunity to fortify your finances with vital physical assets.
