Dow Sheds 1,800 Points in AI Stock Rout
The Dow plunged more than 1,800 points yesterday, or 3.4%, wiping out Wednesday’s 1,569-point post-election rally in a single session. The S&P 500 fell 4.3%, and the Nasdaq dropped 5.4%, the worst day for all three since April 2025.
The Nasdaq is now in correction territory, down more than 10% from its October record. Chip stocks took the hardest hit, with the semiconductor index falling 12% for its worst day since March 2020 and Nvidia, Broadcom, and Micron each shedding 9% or more.
Investors fear the Democrats' victory in the midterms will slow the AI data center buildout that has powered the AI boom. Voters backed limits on or outright rejected AI projects in 40 of 41 local ballot measures Tuesday, and Sen. Bernie Sanders has called for a national moratorium.
Wall Street’s “fear gauge” jumped more than 60% to its highest level since March, and everyday investors sold stocks at their fastest pace since the start of the pandemic. Jobs numbers come out this morning.

Bomb Hoaxes Ground Flights Across Europe
Bomb threats hit at least 25 flights across Europe yesterday, forcing emergency landings, diversions, and fighter-jet escorts from Ireland to Bulgaria. No explosives were found on any plane.
French warplanes redirected an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome and escorted it to a military base in Normandy, while Italian, Croatian, and Bulgarian jets escorted other flights operated by Finnair and Ryanair.
It was the second wave this week, and it follows a run of other disruptions across Europe, including hackers who sabotaged supermarket freezers and tried to cook French blood banks by cranking storage fridges to extreme temperatures.
Britain's transport secretary called them "malicious hoax threats," and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the U.S. is tracking the incidents with European partners. Officials say it's too early to know whether the threats are linked.

Democratic Socialist Wins L.A. Mayor Race
Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman unseated Mayor Karen Bass after one term, and Bass conceded Thursday morning with Raman holding a lead of about 3 points.
Raman, 45, is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, making her the city’s first socialist mayor. Her win means democratic socialists will now run New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
Bass never recovered from criticism of her performance during the January 2025 Palisades fire, which killed 12 people and destroyed thousands of homes while she was in Ghana for a presidential inauguration. Raman hammered Bass on homelessness and housing costs, and the mayor countered that her challenger was "not ready for primetime."
Raman, a former urban planner born in India, had endorsed Bass before launching a late bid in February. She takes over a city preparing to host the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Let’s see if you can guess which one it is:
A. Pasture-raised eggs
B. Bone broth
C. Greek yogurt
This is critical news if you are over 40 and want to maintain muscle strength, mobility, and energy as you age.
