Known as the “Iron Lady,” Thatcher served as the U.K.'s prime minister for more than 11 years, the longest premiership of the 20th century. Project Freedom Begins in Hormuz Today
The U.S. Navy begins escorting commercial ships out of the Strait of Hormuz today under "Project Freedom," an effort to free neutral vessels that have been stuck since Iran closed the waterway. Trump announced the move Sunday on Truth Social, calling it a "humanitarian gesture" for ships low on food, and warning any interference "will be dealt with forcefully." Read the post here. Hours earlier, a bulk carrier reported being attacked by small craft off Sirik, Iran, the 24th such incident since the war began. All crew were safe. Trump is also weighing a 14-point Iranian peace proposal calling for the strait to reopen within 30 days, though he wrote Tehran hasn't "paid a big enough price." |
Trump's Name on Buildings, Currency
The Trump administration has added the president's name or image to more than a dozen federal buildings, programs, and U.S. currency since the beginning of his second term. In December, the Donald J. Trump U.S. Institute of Peace became the first federal building named for a sitting U.S. president, followed by the renamed Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. The Treasury also plans to add Trump's signature to future paper currency, alongside a commemorative 24-carat gold coin and a $1 coin tied to America's 250th anniversary. Other branding includes Trump-class battleships, the $1 million Trump gold card, limited-edition passports featuring his image, Trump Accounts for children, and government websites TrumpIRA.gov and TrumpRx.gov. |
Barbie Stamps Coming This Summer
The U.S. Postal Service unveiled 10 new commemorative Barbie stamps, featuring Mattel's iconic doll in career roles ranging from astronaut and surgeon to paleontologist and music star. See the Barbie stamps here. The stamps will officially debut July 11 at the 2026 National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention in Austin, Texas. USPS art director Ethel Kessler designed the set with Mattel, leaning into "Barbie Pink" and a rare format, a third taller than typical vertical commemorative stamps. Introduced in 1959, Barbie has represented more than 250 careers over six decades and remains the best-selling doll of all time. The new Forever stamps will retail at first-class postage rates.
