Good Morning! On this day in 1888, the Port Isabel lighthouse was extinguished after it was discovered that the U.S. government did not own the land on which it stood. The government acquired the title in 1894, and the lighthouse was abandoned in 1905 as no longer necessary. Four of last year's top 10 moving destinations for truck rental company Penske were in Texas. That data lines up with yesterday's U.S. Census Bureau report showing that Texas is home to the nation's five fastest-growing midsize or large cities. Get the details in today's Roundup. Today’s sponsor, Doroni, is developing a personal electric aircraft designed to make everyday air travel more practical with a compact flying vehicle that charges like an EV, fits in a standard garage, and is built for consumer use rather than commercial fleets.

Texas Has Nation's Fastest-Growing Cities
Texas is home to the nation's five fastest-growing cities with populations of at least 20,000, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates released yesterday. The report examined the period between July 2024 and July 2025. Four of the top five are in Collin County, while the Houston suburb of Fulshear claimed the No. 2 spot with a growth rate of 21%. Celina's 24.6% rate of growth ranked No. 1, while Princeton ranked No. 3 at 18.1%. Melissa and Anna rounded out the top five, with growth rates of 14.5% and 10.2%, respectively. Some smaller cities grew even faster, including Niederwald (65.3%), Lavon (45.3%), Crandall (36.4%), and Waller (35%). The Census Bureau's report highlighted how growth rates for large cities have slowed across the country, while suburbs have maintained a relatively stable rate of growth. In terms of raw numbers, six of the cities with the largest population increases are also in Texas: Fort Worth (No. 2), San Antonio (No. 3), Celina (No. 4), Houston (No. 6), Fulshear (No. 7), and McKinney (No. 10). Finally, Austin topped 1 million residents for the first time, becoming one of a dozen U.S. cities to surpass that threshold. |
Residents, Lawmakers Oppose Power Lines
Residents and lawmakers are pushing back on proposals to build massive 765-kV transmission lines from North, Central, and South Texas to the Permian Basin, claiming they will destroy property values and exceed the intent of the legislation that authorized their construction. Earlier this month, residents from nearly two dozen counties attended a meeting with the State Office of Administrative Hearings to voice their opposition to a proposed 270-mile route from Somervell County to Howard County. "Landowners are fighting so hard for something that's already theirs," said retired firefighter Lance Trinque. On Monday, 25 legislators wrote a letter to the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT), arguing that ERCOT previously indicated only two of the three proposed routes are needed by 2030, and "prioritizing transmission of energy produced by renewables does nothing to address a significant problem in the mix of electrical generation we currently have in our state." Interestingly, Chinese billionaire Sun Guangxin, whose plans to build a wind farm on land near Laughlin Air Force Base were halted due to national security concerns, has filed a protest with the PUCT over a proposed route near his residence that would cause "visual intrusion, long-term land use constraints, and potential reduction in property value." |
Solar Power to Surpass Coal
The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects that Texas-based solar power will generate 78 billion kilowatt-hours (BkWh) this year, compared to 60 BkWh for coal, marking the first time solar power exceeds coal's annual output on the ERCOT grid. Between 2021 and 2025, solar power's share of ERCOT's generation mix increased from 4% to 12%, while coal's share fell from 19% to 13%. Last year, solar power actually generated more electricity than coal did from March through August. There are currently no plans to build new coal power plants in Texas, while 14 BkWh in new solar capacity is expected to come online this year—representing 40% of all new solar capacity in the U.S.—followed by 11.8 BkWh next year. Over the past five years, natural gas has accounted for roughly 44% of the state's power generation, followed by wind. In 2024, solar power output surpassed nuclear output, which now represents the least productive generation source for ERCOT. |

Morgan Stanley Calls This a $9T Opportunity
If Morgan Stanley’s right, the flying car industry will grow 185,850% by 2050. In fact, they say it will reach $9 trillion in size, more than twice as valuable as today’s global car market.
And 5,500+ investors believe Doroni will lead the charge.
While competitors chase air fleets and taxis, Doroni’s H1-X aircraft is designed for everyday life. It plugs in and charges like an EV, fits in a two-car garage, and requires just 25 hours of training to pilot.
Others are peddling blueprints and renderings. Meanwhile, Doroni just unveiled a full-scale showroom prototype in March. It was so impressive, FOX Business called it the “‘flying car’ set to revolutionize personal air travel.”
600+ people have already reserved one, good for $240M in potential revenue for Doroni. Now’s your chance to claim a piece of this growth as a Doroni investor today.
