Trump Spars With Zelensky

A highly anticipated White House meeting on a Ukraine rare earth minerals deal turned confrontational Friday when President Trump and Vice President Vance clashed with President Zelensky, leaving the deal unsigned.

The meeting exposed rifts between the two nations, with Zelensky arguing that the U.S. was emotionally removed from the war due to geographical distance. At the same time, Vance accused him of ingratitude and disrespecting U.S. efforts to prevent Ukraine’s destruction.

Sources indicated that tensions escalated before the meeting. Zelensky sought assurances of protection against a further Russian invasion and was unwilling to sign the mineral deal without such guarantees. This refusal frustrated both Trump and Vance.

Following the meeting, Trump told Zelensky to leave the White House, releasing a statement saying, "He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace."

Iowa First to Remove Transgender Protections

Iowa became the first state to remove gender identity protections from its civil rights code on Friday, legally defining a person by their reproductive organs at birth and rejecting the idea that a person can transition to another gender.

Over 1,000 protestors occupied the capital when legislators voted 60-36 to pass the bill, claiming that it will expose transgender people and other Iowans to discrimination.

Gov. Kim Reynolds disagreed, stating that removing transgender identity protections from the state's civil rights code aligns Iowa with federal civil rights regulations that recognize only two sexes.

GOP lawmakers also argued that the bill was necessary to prevent gender identity from taking precedence over women's rights and creating a protected class based on personal feelings.

List: Most Shocking Weather Event in Each State

A list of the most shocking weather events in each state highlights the wide range of extreme weather in the U.S., from hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods to wildfires and snow storms.

Hurricanes frequently appear on the list, affecting states from the Gulf of America to the Northeast. One of the most powerful storms was the Great New England Hurricane of 1938, which struck several states with winds exceeding 100 mph and waves reaching over 30 feet.

Flooding also affected several states, including Oregon, North Dakota, and Nevada. Ohio experienced a particularly devastating event, the Great Flood of March 1913, which submerged Dayton under 20 feet of water.

Snow has significantly impacted several regions too. Destructive blizzards affected New Mexico in 1967, New York in 1888, and Wyoming in 1949.
