"In light of significant legislative amendments to the definition and regulation of cannabis, its mere odor can no longer establish that it is 'immediately apparent' that the substance is contraband," Judge Nelly Khouzam wrote. In Florida, medical marijuana was legalized in 2017 and hemp in 2018. Gulf Breeze Police Chief Rick Hawthorne thinks the ruling will be challenged. "I'm almost positive this will go to the (Florida) Supreme Court. But with things trying to pass, making marijuana legal and everything, who knows what will happen." | Palm Bay Councilman in Hot Water over Remarks Palm Bay City Council voted 4-1 on Thursday to request that Gov. Ron DeSantis suspend Councilman Chandler Langevin over his comments against the Indian community. The meeting was attended by hundreds of residents, dozens of whom signed up to speak. Langevin had written on the social media site X: "There's not a single Indian that cares about the United States. They are here to exploit us financially and enrich India and Indians. America for Americans." Some state leaders also condemned the remarks, with Republican Rep. Randy Fine calling the comments "repulsive" and "racist." | No. 18 Florida State Hosts No. 3 Miami No. 18 Florida State hosts No. 3 Miami today in what may be the state's most anticipated college football game of the year. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. The stakes are high for Miami, who project as heavy favorites to become ACC champions. The Hurricanes' offense has hummed so far thanks to an efficient start from transfer quarterback Carson Beck, who's currently third in Heisman odds. Their real strength is on defense, however, where they're holding opponents to just 11.5 points-per-game—ninth best in the entire country. If anyone can break that defense though, it's the Seminoles. Some metrics rank Florida State as the best offense in the country this season, leading all teams in yards-per-game (600) and points-per-game (53). Coming off of an embarrassing loss to Virginia last week, FSU is looking to get back to .500 in ACC play. They too have eyes for the ACC championship crown. Zero ranked opponents remain on either team's schedule after today's game, meaning this matchup may be the final chance for either team to secure a ranked win this season. As a result, today's outcome could make or break one team's fate as College Football Playoff contenders. | | | ➤ St. Augustine: Brides have been left scrambling after Chez L'Amour, a popular restaurant and event venue, abruptly closed its doors amidst a disagreement between the landlord and the owner.
