| | Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | | | Good Morning! On this day in 1942, artist and television host Bob Ross was born in Daytona Beach. Over the years, his folksy approach to painting and references to "happy little trees and clouds" endeared him to generations of fans. The wild weather continued throughout Monday, soaking much of Central Florida, with severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Volusia, Lake, Orange, and Brevard counties. A state of emergency was declared in several counties due to flooding and washed-out roads. Here are photos of some of the damage. If it feels like your personal data is up for grabs these days, you're not imagining it. Today's sponsor, Incogni, offers a way to fight back. Busy day? Listen to our daily 15-minute podcast while commuting, cooking, or walking the dog—your Flyover fix, anywhere. | | | | Join the Movement—Invest in The Flyover We launched The Flyover to build something rare in American media—a newsroom focused on facts and real stories, not political narratives and biased reporting. We're now about halfway to our investment goal, thanks to more than 1,540 readers who have invested in our mission of independent, reader-driven journalism. If you are an investor, thank you. If you are not, I hope you will consider joining your fellow readers. Before I focus on bringing in new investors, I would like to offer you, our readers, a special opportunity to be part of this next chapter. You've been with us from the start. You understand why The Flyover is needed—and I'd rather grow with you by my side than rely on outside investors who don't share our values. Making Investing More Accessible That's why I've asked our legal counsel to lower the minimum investment to $500—to make ownership in The Flyover accessible to more of the people who built it: you, our readers. Why Invest in The Flyover - Independent journalism matters. We answer to readers, not advertisers, political activists, or corporate boards.
- Our audience is soaring. From a kitchen-table startup to over 3.3 million readers nationwide, The Flyover is among the top 1% of fastest-growing media startups in America.
- We're delivering results. Since our first investor round, readership has grown 27%, while maintaining a strong gross profit margin and expanding our reporting reach.
- You're investing in trust. Nearly every dollar goes directly toward expansion and innovation—maintaining the fact-first, unbiased approach too often abandoned by legacy media.
- Return on your investment. As The Flyover continues its positive trajectory, there are several ways readers–turned–investors could benefit in the future: through a sale of the company, a public listing, or dividend distributions. While none of these are guaranteed, they reflect potential outcomes if our growth continues on its current path.
Owning a part of The Flyover is special. And even though it's much more complicated and requires additional work for us to manage a larger group of smaller investors, I have instructed our attorney to proceed anyway. Because I want to partner with you, our readers. If you've been on the fence, now is the time to invest. Will you be part of the movement that changes the way Americans consume their news? Common sense news for common sense Americans. Are you in? π Invest in The Flyover here. | | | Debate Competition Adds $50K Kirk Scholarship Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that, in a partnership with Turning Point USA, the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative State Championship will award $145,000 in scholarships, with a $50,000 scholarship named in honor of Charlie Kirk. The competition's highest honor, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Debate, will now award the Charlie Kirk trophy. The winner and runner-up will attend the National Ronald Reagan Presidential Debate in California, thanks to the Ronald Reagan Foundation. The state championships will be held on April 5 at New College of Florida in Sarasota. The scholarship awards were donated by philanthropist Patricia Duggan of Clearwater, with the funding matched by the Florida Prepaid Foundation. The civics and debate program, established by lawmakers in 2020, includes 330 teams across all 67 counties. Thirty tournaments in the state each year focus on developing civic dispositions and reinforcing what is taught in the classroom. | Jacksonville Shuttle Factory a First HOLON Jacksonville autonomous shuttle factory is set to become the first U.S. production site for fully electric, self-driving "Mover" shuttles. The German company plans to produce 5,000 vehicles a year by 2027 and sell them worldwide. Autonomous vehicle manufacturer HOLON has signed an agreement with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) to manufacture its vehicles at a plant it plans to build on the Northside. JTA's autonomous shuttle system in downtown Jacksonville, currently using modified Ford vans, will transition to HOLON's 12-passenger vehicles as soon as they are built. The city is providing the company with $7.5 million toward the construction of the plant, which is expected to have a local economic impact of about $90 million and will employ up to 1,000 people. | Florida Exempt from Offshore Drilling The U.S. Department of the Interior confirmed that "all options are on the table" for offshore oil drilling, signaling a possible expansion of energy exploration along America's coastlines. Leaked documents indicate that Florida's ban will be preserved, reflecting opposition to offshore drilling voiced by Gov. Ron DeSantis and other elected officials. The Interior Department's draft plans include potential lease sales in areas protected from drilling, including most of the Atlantic coast. It would also open much of the Gulf beyond the shoreline immediately off the Florida coast to drilling. If implemented, the plan could open waters off New England, the Carolinas, and California for drilling as early as 2026 or 2027. State officials in several coastal regions have voiced opposition, citing environmental and economic concerns. | | | Flying together with our sponsor | | | | ➤ Starke: Norman Grim Jr., 65, was executed by lethal injection on Tuesday.
