Sometimes, when you look closely at Tesla's projects, you come across features that seem unnecessary and extremely costly and complex from an engineering standpoint. For example, the autonomous charging system. Your car arrives at the charging station, and the connector automatically links your car to the station without you having to step outside. It seems unnecessary, except perhaps for people with disabilities, where it makes sense and might encourage someone in a wheelchair to consider a Tesla over another vehicle. However, it remains a small market and, beyond a social approach, has little interest for the majority of users. Yet, this feature, along with dozens of others that Tesla is working on, actually provides extremely important competitive advantages for dominating the autonomous vehicle market. From another perspective, consider launching a network of autonomous on-demand cars that traverse cities all day to serve people's transportation needs. However, these are electric cars that need to be recharged every six hours. Suddenly, you need a network of superchargers wherever your service is available, and most importantly, the charging must be done autonomously. Here, Tesla has an unfair advantage. Furthermore, we can discuss other issues that Musk and his teams have already considered. When you create a network of autonomous on-demand vehicles, the following happens:
