The data centers, owned by Microsoft and the Army Corps, are using volumes of water equivalent to tens of thousands of local households, primarily to cool massive banks of servers that power artificial intelligence tools. In 2025, data centers across the state are projected to use 49 billion gallons of water, enough to supply millions of households, even as the state faces drought conditions in many areas. "These centers are showing up in places that are very water-stressed," said Margaret Cook, a water policy analyst at the Houston Advanced Research Center. "There's no requirement for them to have conversations with communities about how much water they'll use." | Ghislaine Maxwell Moved to Texas 'Club Fed' Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted accomplice to Jeffrey Epstein, was moved from Florida to Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas Friday, following a two-day meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Tallahassee. Maxwell, serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking in connection with Epstein, discussed "about 100 names" with Blanche, but the Justice Department is yet to disclose further details from the talks. The move takes Maxwell from a low-security prison for men and women to a minimum-security facility for women only in Bryan, sometimes referred to as "Club Fed" for its comfortable conditions. Maxwell has reportedly been seeking immunity in exchange for revealing information about Epstein's child sex abuse and trafficking case. Her case is currently up for appeal to the Supreme Court, where it is scheduled for closed-door discussion in September. | List: Texas Cities High on Low-Cost Ranking Eight Texas cities were recently ranked among the best cities in the U.S. with a low cost of living, gaining by far the highest representation of any U.S. state on the list of 25 cities.
